Mother’s Day Classic Canberra 2015

By Greg Haughey
| 10 May 2015

Just ran 10km in the Mother’s Day Classic, came in under 60 minutes and beat my PB by 30 seconds so thrilled about that. The race was started by Robert de Castella who had some of his indigenous runners from Thursday Island participating. It felt like minus 5 but it was probably closer to 10 but with strong winds it was bloody cold. I was really thrilled to join in with such a bunch of inspiring people. All along the course were people with motivational signs. It felt more like a day out with Anthony Robbins than a run. My take home lessons from the run were you will always do better if you surround yourself with inspirational people and given the right setting working out can be fun.

We stopped at a country café for coffee and we couldn’t resist what surely must be Australia’s largest Anzac biscuit. That is a full sized bread plate that it is sitting on. You will be pleased to know that we shared it.

Sailing on an ex-America’s Cup yacht

By Greg Haughey
| 14 November 2013

I went sailing on Sydney Harbour this afternoon in an ex-America’s Cup yacht. With 25 knots of wind we reached 14 knots with 2 reefs in the main. Imagine if we had the main fully deployed? I had a go on the helm and you could feel the power. If only I was Larry Ellison and could indulge myself with such technology!!!

Scott, my son in law who is a Queensland policeman, and I marched with the Queensland Police detachment for the Anzac Day march on 25 April 2010. I had expected more veterans (we are the ones in the suits at the back) but great to be with the boys and girls in blue.
