We have arrived in Namche Bazar at a height of 3,440 metre after a very challenging 10 kilometre walk from Phakding. The day before we walked about 10 kilometres from Lukla where we landed to Phakding but it was easy by comparison. We crossed numerous suspension bridges getting here and had to deal with the hundreds of fellow trekkers going up or coming back from base camp plus the numerous yaks, donkeys and Sherpas carrying supplies up the mountains as there is no road transport in this region. Kate gave out colouring kits to local children along the way and they were absolutely thrilled. The photo of the township with snow capped mountains in the background is the view from our guest house room.
